carbon neutral paper

Global Warming and Climate Change are big environmental topics of our times. These issues effect all of us, but are particularly important for industry which produces so much of the carbon dioxide released by burning fossil fuels such as oil, coal and gas.

While Global Warming refers to the long-term effect of these fossil fuel emissions on the average temperature, Climate Changes encompass the broader impact, such as rising sea levels and extreme weather.

As politicians continue to debate the extent to which either is caused by humans, we’re taking Elvis’ advice of “a little less conversation and a little more action”, by embracing sustainable options, along with so many other organisations here and around the world.

COS Premium A3 & A4 80 GSM Copy Paper White was recently certified as carbon neutral by the Carbon Reduction Institute (CRI) under the NoCO2 Program through Paper Force Oceania.

Humanity’s carbon footprint is reported to be around 60 per cent of our overall ecological footprint and growing rapidly.

Carbon neutral is a way for businesses to negate their greenhouse gas emissions. It is an action aimed at removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, with the aim of achieving a zero carbon footprint. In short it’s about balancing carbon emissions with carbon removal (or carbon offsetting).

Carbon neutral, is a way for businesses to negate their greenhouse gas emissions. It is an action aimed at removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, with the aim of achieving a zero carbon footprint. In short it’s about balancing carbon emissions with carbon removal (or carbon offsetting).

The David Suzuki Foundation One Nature, describes it like this “if you add polluting emissions to the atmosphere, you can subtract them by purchasing carbon offsets. Carbon offsets are simply credits for emission reductions achieved by projects such as wind farms, solar installations, or energy efficiency retrofits. You can purchase these credits and apply them to your own emissions to reduce your net climate impact”.

In the case of COS Premium Carbon Neutral Copy Paper, Carbon offsets were purchased from the China Wind project which provides a renewable, clean energy source for power generation.

History has shown the power of acting in unison. Over 30 years ago a hole in the ozone layer over the Antarctic was causing enormous concern. When faced with the issue, company’s around the world united to phase out the use of ozone depleting chlorofluorocarbons. Recent study’s show the hole is now healing.

COS is working hard to reduce our carbon footprint and support our customer’s in doing the same. We hope you will join us in being part of the solution to environmental challenges.
