But what on earth are USB OTGs and Lightening USBs?

A Dual USB Drive might be small, but it will change the way you manage your mobile devices.

Imagine you’re on a work site and need to take photos and send them to your client urgently…but your phone or tablet storage is full! What do you do? Start deleting photos (which you’ll later regret) to free up space? Find a computer, hook up your device and wait…and wait…and wait for your files to be transferred?

There is a quicker, simpler, and safer way to store or transfer data to or from your mobile device. It frees up space without having to say goodbye to your important information, photos, videos, music, movies, or games.

With a mobile device-compatible connector on one end and a USB connector on the other, it allows you to download photos, music, games, movies or documents onto the USB, or transfer them between your computer and mobile device.  This means that your information is stored safely and can still be accessed quickly.  No cables. No additional software. No host PC. No fuss.

There are different products available for Android and Apple products.

A USB On-the-Go (OTG) connects to your Android device (smart phone, PC or tablet). Most Android devices manufactured in recent years are now USB OTG-compatible but, if you’re unsure, it’s easy to check.  A quick internet search should clear up any doubt.

Similar dual USB drives are available for Apple iPhones, iPads and iPods.  Your device will simply need an Apple Lightning port, which has been the standard port on all Apple devices since 2012.

Some things to keep in mind when choosing your dual USB drive:

  • USB OTG devices are only compatible with Android mobile devices.
  • Lightning USB devices are only compatible with Apple mobile devices.
  • Capacity: Movies and videos will require more data than documents, so think about what you are most likely to be transferring or storing, and choose your dual USB drive device accordingly.

COS has a large range of dual USB drives available for both Apple and Android devices, and offers a variety of storage capacities for both. Keeping one or two with you at work or on the road will ensure your mobile device never runs out of storage again.
